Visting Artist Fellowship

Brandywine Workshop annually brings to Philadelphia more than twenty of the most talented artists from around the world. The fellowship application process, based on artistic excellence, is fiercely competitive and the residencies are highly prized. These fellowships cover travel expenses with an honorarium that allows the artist to work at Brandywine for a one- or two-week residency.

From each edition created, Brandywine retains work for its permanent collections, traveling exhibitions, or as contributions to national arts and educational institutions (which have included the Museum of Modern Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the National Museum of American Art.)

Visiting Artist Fellowship: One week residency open to artists nationwide. Selection by peer panel. $30/day food allowance, housing and travel expenses

Regional Artist Fellowship: One to four week(s) residencies open to artists within commuting distance to Brandywine’s South Philadelphia location. Selection by peer panel. No honorarium, travel or housing.

Young Artist Fellowship: One to two month(s) residencies for Philadelphia artists under 35 years of age (no current students). Nomination by local art school faculty. Selection by Brandywine staff. No honorarium, travel or housing.

All artists-in-residence are provided studio space, supplies, equipment and printer services free of charge.

** Please Note: Brandywine Workshop is not currently accepting new Visiting Artist Residencies at this time.**
